I have been working at Telenav full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Some great engineers and plenty of good people. Been a good place to make friends and work on interesting stuff

Cons

No vision, No execution, Dependance on china, people run pet projects like its no one's business, no career dev, poor/avg salary, no incentives, very low morale and lack of enthusiasm. In a crowded space dominated by the biggies Google, apple , microsoft and maybe amazon soon..

Advice to Management

Shake things up, have laser focus, execute at all levels, energize with purpose and passion and not by putting competition down.

    Pros

The company is growing fast, in terms of both number of employee and revenue. It seems they can go IPO in the near term

    Cons

Engineers need to do a lot of communications with off shore developement sites. Unfortunately, due to the time zone difference, they means working late sometimes till 8 or 9pm.

    Advice to Management

The LBS business is highly competitive which mandates the company to innovate and to produce quality new product in order to be successful or just survive. The middle managers in general seems not very technically savvy. What is more, the marketing team seems even lacking the basic understanding of the software engineering cycle.

    I worked at Telenav full-time

    Pros

On the development department the people have experience and are very friendly and easy to work with.
Small but nice other benefits beside salary.

    Cons

On the product/project management department are a lot of unprepared people. When there is a problem everybody blames everybody, but nobody takes ownership.
A lot of leads, managers, super managers etc. on every project but they are there only with the name, no involvement and not doing their job.
Specs, road map... what's that? in some cases specifications are written by the developers because otherwise they change too often because the product forgets what mentioned in an email.

    Advice to Management

Hire good people, don't hire just for the sake of hiring.
Invest in people, yes they may leave, but what if they don't?
