I have been working at Temple University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

+ There are many departments of medical research to choose from.
+ Reasonable amount of independence as an investigator
    + Good benefits (health insurance)
+ Multiple seminars and opportunities to present research

    Cons

    - Postdoctoral salary
    - Surrounding area is not the safest.
    - Garage parking available for $110/month
    - Expect long hours in research

    Advice to Management

*Include free covered parking for employees (at least postdoctoral research fellows who work long hours)
*Encourage greater usage of the next-door Student/Faculty Recreation Center for physical activity among employees; will improve mood and energy level at work.

I have been working at Temple University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The shining light of Temple are the students, as a professor they are the reason it is a good place to work. Colleagues are quite good but administration puts too much pressure on them so collaboration is difficult.

    Cons

Poor uninspired management. Temple succeeds despite the administration and very corrupt administrative culture. Play the politics right and you are ok, no interest in politics good luck

    Advice to Management

Get inspired, get moving in a direction and raise some money for goodness sake. Temple is a better school and place to work than you are letting it be. I still recommend working here because of the colleagues and students, but the administration needs to course change or we need to change the administration.
