I worked at Teradata full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

* Good benefits
* Interesting technology
* Opportunity for growth

Cons

* Old boys club at the top
* Culture of "cover my butt" at the top
* Exposing challenges may loose your job

Advice to Management

Teradata is a great company; however, there are a few high-level people that stay where they are by passing the buck to others. This used to be a fun place to work but the guy in the trenches seems to be getting the short end of the stick these days.

    I have been working at Teradata full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    good company name, good reputation in the industry

    Cons

    good accounts are reserved for the old NCR employees. New hires get the "new" account territories, small number of accounts, and an unachievable number. Also, as a new rep, if you are about to close an account, it will be taken away and given to a "favorite" employee or just plain taken away so the manager can get sales credit.

    Advice to Management

    stody old boy network company..need to move into the 21st century

    I have been working at Teradata full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Flex hour at least, depending on your group. Some groups seemed less overburdened than others. Benefits were pretty decent. Free food if you sneak in after new hire initiations and other presentations. Convenient work from home for family, etc reasons.

    Cons

    Terrible location. Heavy heavy bureaucracy. Older management. Average employee 30+ with family. Lots of processes. Unreliable online tools. Reports filed for every change. Sometimes 30 line reports for 1 line of code change. Poor intergroup communication.

    Advice to Management

    Good luck. Better get young and hold on loosely. Stop spending money on useless benefits (onsite haircuts?? who really needs that??) And get young people in or you're going to be sinking faster than the Titanic.
