I worked at Terex full-time for more than a year
Pros
I had one of the best bosses (Soham Basu) I think I'll ever have in my life.
Team was incredible to work with.
Amazing level of professional discretion and autonomy to perform work my way.
(None of these things are still at Terex since the big layoffs)
Cons
Upper management is clueless and is only focused on metrics. Their inability to lead caused Terex to lose its mobile cranes and resulted in the layoffs of dozens of people.
Pay is low: they will lowball you. They won't want to give good reviews. They won't want to give raises... Unless you're in the precious inner circle of people. You don't want to be though, because it's an echo chamber of failure and... ineptitude.
Office politics: the layoffs had no rhyme or reason. They kept new people, let go experienced workers. Kept the jerks, let go the nice employees. Kept some high paid employees, let go low paid. Changed their minds up to the day some were supposed to be laid off. Some supervisors get extra changes and continually fail, others get fired/demoted for a single failure. There's no consistency and this location frequently ignores company policy. In fact, they laid off the employee responsible for making sure Terex OKC followed corporate policy, because she kept intervening in terrible decision making.
They cared more about efficiency than accurate metrics. Middle managers tweaked and forged data to make efficiencies look better, when the company was bleeding money due to takt time and other production issues.
They made no effort to account for higher costs associated with steel tariffs.
They prey on recent college grads to get more for less.
They tried to unhire a co-worker when he tried to negotiate his salary upon receiving an offer letter that was several thousand less than the recruiter advertised.
There is no job stability here.
There are few opportunities for growth in pay or position.
No overtime pay unless you're working on the floor. Engineers get overworked for no extra pay (and remember they lowball the salary already).
Thanks for the positive feedback about your boss and team. Regarding the cranes layoffs and management’s actions, we hear you but we would like to share a different perspective. Earlier in 2019, the Company made a difficult call and exited several cranes product lines that had become ...
