I have been working at Texas Instruments full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Salary is good because of the location in Texas where things are cheaper relatively. You can find and interact with a variety of experts - software, algorithms, systems, digital, analog.

    Cons

Lack of technical leadership where decisions are driven by non-technical Program Managers and Sales Managers. Program managers managing technical developers doesn't seem to be effective. Engineering managers with good understanding are required.

    Advice to Management

Program Managers do not seem to be effective and many competitors don't have program managers.

I worked at Texas Instruments full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

None as this company is all about cutting cost and people

    Cons

This company has lost its way but this is expected with top management background being sales. This has led to a company with no vision and lack of technology leadership. They do excel at cutting cost by laying off the people who really make a difference except for those who are buddies with management (good old boy network going strong).

Those thinking about joining, my recommendation is to stay away as this company is heading in the wrong direction, more so if your field is SW programmer (there are very little to no career opportunities).

    Advice to Management

Upper management should be the first ones to be fired due to their bad decisions and lack of vision and strategy
