I have been working at Texas Roadhouse part-time (More than a year)

Pros

30% employee discount on food, flexible scheduling, opportunity for promotion, blue jeans and t-shirt uniform, line dancing, and employer pays for break food for those working double shifts.

Cons

If you call in to work, expect a to-go shift (even with a doctor's work excuse). If you are just a few minutes late for your shift, expect a to-go shift. Working a to-go shift is a significant pay cut compared to serving. Also, some of the managers (service managers) are very rude to employees for no reason at all.

Advice to Management

Stop giving to-go shifts to those who are ill or have unforeseen circumstances to where it is impossible to make it in to work that day (such as a death in the family). Hire more than one person designated to working these undesirable shifts.

I worked at Texas Roadhouse part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-great commitment to getting things done as quickly as possible
-higher than minimum wage pay for the lowest paying back of house jobs
-friendly, open management willing to help when problems do come up

    Cons

-sometimes a real lack of communication between different parts of the kitchen
-obsession on keeping busy, to the point of assigning tasks that are someone else's responsibility
-feels like a difference in the amount of effort put in between the front and back of the house (ie not everyone is willing to make sure they pull the proper food when it is ready to run out)

I have been working at Texas Roadhouse full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The place is ran like a well oiled machine! Everyone works together as one cohesive team and it makes for such a positive work environment. The management is great and very affirming. You can essentially make your own schedule as well.

    Cons

The guests are the hardest part of the job. I think is typical for any serving position though.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!
