I have been working at The Bancorp full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-It is a job. Be happy you're employed -It's banking, and many of the skills you will learn are transferrable to other banks -Many lower level people are very friendly and helpful -C suite has done a good job in terms of profit and revenue after several years of lackluster performance and seemingly never-ending consent orders -Holiday party

    Cons

-Ineffective middle management. Many would rather spend their time micromanaging and demeaning their employees than working on their respective job function -Antiquated IT systems/practices. Most computers are several years old -Heavy turnover. They are pretty quick to fire VP's and above for "underperformance" -Minimal raises (Less than cost of living adjustments) -No bonuses for non-revenue driving departments -Benefits are not very good compared to other banks in DE (No maternity leave) -Work/life balance is very dependent on department and function. They will likely tout their "flexibility" during the interview process, yet some departments strongly encourage it and some don't allow work from home at all

    Advice to Management

Do a legitimate performance review of the various departments. Listen to the feedback during exit interviews. It's a turnover factory and seemingly nothing is being done about it. Why would talented people continue to leave? Rid yourselves of the dead weight middle management, the legacy people who focus more on office politics than the work being performed. Actively market the company outside of the occasional golf outing. Most people want to work for a company that they've heard of prior to the interview process.

I have been working at The Bancorp full-time

    Pros

Good experience with payments and Fintechs. You’ll see a lot of negative reviews from people just disgruntled about the change in management but if you look at the earnings they’ve beat estimates the past several quarters so things are improving. Management is full of humans - generally they are good people just trying to make a living. CEO is trying to build a culture - small company means you rub shoulders with top executives regularly. Met the CEO several times he has always been a charming and friendly individual showing genuine concern for his employees.

    Cons

Turnover and benefits aren’t the best but people mistakenly compare them to the last big bank they came from so they incorrectly compare the small company against a big company.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your employees and develop a long term view in order to maintain employees and prevent turnover.
