I worked at The Broad Institute full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Work life balance is really unmatched. I worked 40 hours a week on a bad week. All the people are energetic, young, and nice. After you pay your dues you get a lot of freedom and career advancement opportunities at an early age.

Cons

The first two years in process development you are going to be doing primarily production work with limited opportunity to pursue your own experiments.
Non-profit payscale.

Advice to Management

None, but it will be interesting to see how the company proceeds with grant money for genomic research drying up so quickly.

I worked at The Broad Institute as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great environment, wonderful research, clean, professional, beautifully renovated. An absolute dream for every wet-lab scientists. I look forward to working somewhere half as good someday.

    Cons

Many buildings spread around, difficult to get around sometimes. Rather cramped when I was there, but they opened new labs.

    Advice to Management

    Hire me again!
