I have been working at The Columbus Dispatch full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great pay if you work hard and plenty of extra incentives for motivation. A wide variety of products allow for greater opportunity to meet your clients needs. Management is concerned with creating a happy work environment and listens to feedback in regards to improvement. Several properties within the media group allow for employment change without losing your benefits. If you act like a professional adult, you are treated like a professional adult.

    Cons

Can sometimes be slow with internal processes which can be frustrating, although that seems to be improving. Not many management opportunities for someone looking for possible advancement due to limited positions.

    Pros

Pays well, treats employees with respect, owns many different properties so there are a lot of opportunities to move around. They are privately held. Free tickets to sporting events!

    Cons

The print media industry is becoming more and more difficult in this age of digital information and the convenience of smart phones and tablets.

I worked at The Columbus Dispatch full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

You get your chance to save the world, to educate, to inform. The reporters are awesome to work with.

    Cons

Woof. Layoffs are a constant, and pay raises are non-existent. Newspapers are a sinking ship; keep an eye on other jobs, even if you like the work at the Dispatch. Cutbacks happen frequently, and the atmosphere can be funereal.
