I worked at The Container Store part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Flexibility, strong peer support, continuous training, teaching beyond the job, encouragement from management, empowering, competitive compensation. Overall working here is good, especially for a college student (see flexibility) or as a second job. They give what they get, and are very fair.

Cons

High expectations, which is not necessarily a con (see Advice...). During some shifts, especially ones that time sensitive (truck unloads and morning processes), individuals may be pushed to their limits--both physically and mentally.

Advice to Management

Overall encouraging, but sometimes understand that not all individuals can take high expectations and handle leadership all the time.

I worked at The Container Store part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amazing training, positive & energetic co-workers/management, hourly wage, great discount!!

    Cons

Before being able to work a "normal" shift, you must work to unload all the merchandise at 5:00 am. They are extremely anal retentive and require employees to be the same...but that is why the store always looks so great! The hourly wage is very good for a retail position, but certainly not enough to live off of.

I have been working at The Container Store full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work with some really bright, incredibly hard working people.

    Cons

Micromanagement veiled as Communication is leadership. Pay raises are minimal. Little time off especially holidays. Expect you to work and answer emails on vacation. Overtime constantly expected. Leadership dictates every detail with little interaction. Never see higher level management unless a special event.

    Advice to Management

Truly good companies to work for don't need to constantly say they are a great company to work for. They are a good place to work by listening to employees, rewarding them for hard work, even if it is just a thank you, and helping their employees succeed.
