I have been working at The Hartford full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Overall training program was very efficient. Mentoring that was provided was extremely helpful.

Cons

My manager was in a different state as a new hire, even though there were over 6 managers on our floor. I would've vastly preferred to have a manager that was more available. They overstate your ability to grow with the company and move "up and out" of entry level positions.

Advice to Management

Be more realistic. Give new hires managers they can meet with in person.

I have been working at The Hartford full-time

    Pros

I have a flexible schedule, which I appreciate a great deal. PTO is good. I work with a great group of people who work hard and care a lot about what they do.

    Cons

The Mutual Fund processing areas are managed by a small group of people who have been calling the shots for years. They are very protective of their turf. They hand select people who agree with their decisions for advancement opportunities. If you voice a dissenting opinion, you go nowhere. Information is very tightly controlled. You are told what they think you need to know and that's it.

Most employees are micromanaged to death. The only thing that really matters is whether you hit your productivity numbers or not.

The constantly changing organizational structure results in layoffs that happen on a regular basis. There is no job security.

    Advice to Management

You have a great group of people working for you. Treat them like adults. Treat them with respect. Value their talents. Be honest and sincere. I think you'll be surprised at the outcome if you do.
