I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

It's great to work for a company that you can be proud of. The Home Depot supports its people and gives back to the community. Overall it takes pride in the business that it does and shows that support to the people who work there.

Cons

At the corporate office, life can be hectic. With the store open 363 days of the year, the office is pretty much always open. That means vacation days are short and sometimes work/life balance goes out of the window to support running the store. (Sometimes it's understandable and sometimes it's a fire drill for the sake of a fire drill.)

Advice to Management

While the stock option plan and profit sharing plan are great, some other benefits could use enhancing.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Regular Schedule, weekend off. Chance to learn a lot of the business, both internal and contractor.

    Cons

Do not expect a high salary if new. Pending on management and market location, your department can reach its goals or they begin to pound on you for performance. For what they pay the stress is not worth it. You are better off working the isles. HD is scrambling because they know that the market is slowing and sales are going down. Do not believe the stock market, They buy their own stocks.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like people not numbers and customer will be happy to go to the store.
