I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Full time work with good financial benefits for IT professionals. Current management is an improvement over the Nardelli disaster.

Cons

There are no permanent jobs here and most of the stock option pay disappears when you get laid off. Be prepared for random acts of management by a culture focused on the next quarterly earnings report.

Advice to Management

Pursuit of the cheapest way to get work done at all levels will come back to haunt you in this life or the next one.

    Pros

I worked there during high school and college and they gave me a flexible schedule, there were great people there, great managers, everyone was really friendly, the company was becoming more customer oriented, there were good benefits even for part-time employees, and success sharing was great

    Cons

policy changes weren't being implemented across the board leading to a lot of confusion

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very thorough process. They are careful about who they hire.

    Cons

    Pay does not match responsiblity

    Advice to Management

Invest time in what it takes for a medium size to live in the specific area and pay them accordingly. An employee will never be happy if they are under financial duress at home. Statistics show BJ's and Costco pay 30% more to their regular floor associates.
