home depot has alot of room and opportunities for growth within the company

at senior management level there will be times when long hours are requested from you

Advice to Management

keep constant communication wih your family if your at senior management level and help them understand what it is you do for the company

    Pros

    Good benefits, great culture and family of associates. Home Depot gives back to their associates but it needs to be consistent (hourly) and not based on exceeding sales plans that comp 15% from last year.

    Cons

    Inconsistent roller coaster schedule. Corporate promised one weekend a month and one Saturday and one Sunday per month. Lucky if you get a weekend off in 5 months without requesting it 2 months ahead of time. Although you may work harder that 90% of the other associates it isn't recognized or awarded with annual compensation. The raise doesn't reflect the cost of living increase per year. Schedule associates to desired times so as to create a more positive level of synergy. Like typical large corporations, it the upper tiered management that benefits the most from the hard work of the associates.

    Advice to Management

    Look at the overall performance of your associates before taking the easy way out by discharging over a work rule violation that did not offend or hurt customers or associates. Management should be recognizing associate value consistently and react quickly to such value. Some of the pressures from management encourage work rule violations.
