The people are great. You will have mentors who will guide you as you learn the ropes of journalism. The events and stories you will cover will be exciting and memorable.
Cons
Production nights can be quite a bit hectic and expect to be in the officer up past deadline. There is also sometimes a steep learning curve.

Great Learning Experience, Despite Troubles

There is no other college experience like working on a student newspaper. You gain skills far beyond jourrnalism. In fact, most things you learn have nothing to do with your direct job function.
Cons
Because it is such a close knit group of people seeing each other every day, things can get catty, unfair, and discouraging.
