I worked at The Menta Group full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

You can make a difference to underpriviledged children and help teach them new coping skills.

Cons

Micro managed badly. Teachers are overworked and held to double standards than to other employees. There aren't break periods. Staff expected to work straight through the day with no break and have to eat lunch with class. Preferred staff get more leeway on issues. Administration is often not qualified or competant.

Advice to Management

Don't micromanage your staff and expect the company to run better. You can start by following Illinois labor codes and hiring qualified staff. Give better benefits and pay, and better communicaton of expectations. Treat staff better. Care about what they teach. You seem more concerned with your staff behaviors than those of your students.

I have been working at The Menta Group full-time

    Pros

Great experience working with the kids, benefits and pay are above average making moving up in the company a great opportunity. Menta is willing to invest the time and money to further yourself as an individual and to help the company grow.

    Cons

No real cons, work life balance is a little tough with the drive, but that will happen anywhere that you go.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing! Management makes sure to put the kids first and always looking out for employees.

I have been working at The Menta Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Collaborative, team environment. They appreciate new ideas and look to each individual's strengths and expertise. They welcome fresh ideas in curriculum, therapeutic learning, and problem-solving. There's always room for personal growth and they foster an environment for that.

    Cons

(If it even is a "con) You must be a self-starter, quick-thinking, and creative. You go into uncharted territory sometimes in crisis situations with this population of kids. You have to be self-assured and confidence. You cannot wait around for your supervisor to tell you what to do. You have to be willing to reach out and effectively articulate your needs. This isn't a place for wallflowers.

    Advice to Management

Keep striving for clear, concise internal communication.
