I worked at The Nature Conservancy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Such an amazing organization
Absolutely wonderful people with great hearts

    Cons

Less than market pay for finance-related positions
A lot of red tape - expected based on the size

    Advice to Management

Don't pigeon hole your staff; allow employees to contribute where and how they can even if it isn't specifically in their job description. Although I was told there would be opportunities to give input and help with field work/on the ground conservation, they didn't materialize once I took the position. This was really disappointing since believing in and interest in conservation was the whole reason that I wanted to work for the organization.
