I worked at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Great opportunity to learn to become independent in a laboratory setting. Great PIs and supervisors.

Cons

Very competitive to land a position. Pay varies on the researcher you work for.

Advice to Management

Involve students more in research projects.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A teaching hospital with horrible pay but the benefits and career jump start are good. Excellent place for people afraid to advance in their field or with only mediocre skills who show up each day

    Cons

Very inefficient work place, inbred as in OSU grads given supervisory and mgt positions so no influx of new ideas, no incentive for improvement

    Advice to Management

Find a way to incorporate incentives for new ideas and cut red tape so these can be implemented. Provide ways for advancement in every dept that are based on merit and ability not just how long someone with mediocre skills has stayed a state employee. Stop blanket appreciations and only direct these to the individuals who have performed in the manner to deserve it. Likewise stop the "friendly reminder that the correct way to do (insert problem)" and other similar comments given to everyone. These should only be directed to the employees with problem areas in job performance. The latter is a morale buster to the good employees
