    Pros

I got nothin' here....worse job ever and I was embarrassed to have my name attached to the few jobs I had to do.

    Cons

As a former employee of The Patch Boys I would NEVER recommend these people to anyone!!! I had to quit their company after two weeks because I didn't want my name on the work they wanted me putting out for them. The owner has no experience whatsoever in drywall and tries to tell experienced people like myself how he wants drywall jobs done and in a quick and unprofessional manner that my conscience would not allow me to perform. There are certain standards that need to be met and a certain protocol required to provide quality drywall work and that cannot be done in a one day visit on most drywall jobs. And I personally will not put my name on any work that is ordered to be done in a fashion that does not meet those high standards that I know are required to do quality work. I have more pride in my work than that and unfortunately The Patch Boys are all about getting things done as quickly as possible, their main goal is to get as many jobs done in as little time as possible. I personally will not produce that poor quality of work that The Patch Boys insist on rushing their employees through on a regular basis just to get higher quantities of jobs in a smaller amount of time. And The Patch Boys also require their employees to get rid of all the garbage accumulated on their jobs, which is the most absurd thing ever asked that should never be expected of an employee.....even after I have personally asked them to pick up garbage from their jobs they have still left me with that garbage to dispose of on my own. The owner, Jacob Kromhout has even suggested that I throw it into other construction company's dumpsters that I can randomly find on my own like some of his other workers do, which I would never do because that is actually illegal, not to mention an unprofessional suggestion to even make in the first place. They also expect their employees to pickup and supply all the jobs with the appropriate supplies needed to complete the jobs. I have been told that I was supposed to get sheetrock to a job...not asked, TOLD!!! And that is after I was hired as a drywall taper, something I made clear when I came on board with The Patch Boys and specifically told them that I do not hang sheetrock any longer at this stage in my career, yet every job they sent me to for the two weeks I spent with them, they literally had me hanging sheetrock!!! And I also agreed to help them out one Saturday morning for a half day job that needed to be done on a weekend, but then they took advantage of me and scheduled me for the next two Saturdays for full days without even asking me first if that worked for me or if I was ok with that. I had to find out about it the day I got to the job on a Saturday that they booked me for a full days work. They show no respect and take total advantage of you when you work for them and then once you don't allow them to do that any longer they actually get mad at you. And upon my quitting the owners even took it upon themselves to adjust my final week of hours and short me pay by going in and adjusting my clocked hours that I punched in and out at, which I will be filing the appropriate grievances and complaints against them due to the illegal action they performed to commit that crime. So not only are they providing poor, inexperienced work to their customers, they treat their employees terrible and with disrespect, and then when you don't want to put up with their treatment and disrespect any longer they act like the immature little children that they truly are and literally treat you like you owe them and they turn on you and try to punish you in illegal ways in regards to the employment world. So it will end up costing them in the end anyway. They have a lot to learn about running a business and what you can and cannot do to your employees. And unfortunately they are going to learn the hard way that you cannot screw over an ex-employee just because they quit on you and they're not happy about it. Be warned The Patch Boys are not the company you want working for you or to work for due to the unprofessional behavior displayed by the owners in regards to both ethics and morals of how a professional business should be run.

    Pros

Company vehicle PTO Holidays off No weekend work

    Cons

No benefits, constantly left to do multiple man jobs by yourself, management loves to give attaboys and pats on the back but will leave you high and dry if you need help. Will also fire you if someone else comes along willing to work for less. It’s a cycle. Good guy as a person, terrible as a leader/boss. If you love being exhausted by Tuesday this is the job for you. There is always a promise of better things coming, and maybe in time there will be, unfortunately in my time with the company that day never came.
