Pros

- Successful: Winning plenty of work during a tough economic environment and staff fully utilised. From my years of experience in consulting with other firms, this is important - you don't refine your skills and get better at consulting when you're sitting on the bench
- Growing: in the current environment i'd rather be in a firm that is recruiting people than downsizing
- Experienced: average years of experience for consultants is 11 years
- Super smart people everywhere: this is true of all management consulting firms I've worked in and TH is no different. What I like about the mix here is that people without management consulting experience are also given a break into the industry. This is how I originally began my consulting career - after 7 years in industry - and so I know the challenge it brings but also how hard it is to break in and it's pretty hard in the bigger firms to get here
- Communications meetings are held fortnightly, along with regular written communications. I also find the exec team very busy but also approachable when I ask about specific projects or clients and so I'm not sure where the lack of comms comments from prior reviews are coming from ?

Cons

- Very fast pace: if you're not a high energy person, don't even consider working here
- Less support staff than in a big firm - so there's
- Limited industry exposure - however it's not true that the firm is only doing government work. I've been involved in Products, Utilities, Financial Services, Construction and Infrastructure and Government work. Re the comment on lack of banking work - take a look around in the economy and you'll find there's not a huge amount of new work being outsourced by any of the major banks to consulting firms so there's no big surprise here.

Advice to Management

My advice to management is to get onto this site and communicate some of the good things that are going on in the firm. It's a shame that people can post anonymously and ignore the good experiences people have, and also the opportunities they're being given that I know would not be available in all the other consulting firms. Sure, it's a pressure cooker environment but I haven't worked in a firm yet where that wasn't the case. If you want to work in management consulting, eyes wide open that you'll be working on tight timeframes, often repetitive work and also challenging one-off problems that will give you transferrable skills to take into any industry or role of your choice in the future.
