I worked at Thomas C. Wilson full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Friendly, sympathetic co-workers who have been forced to remain employed here due to tough job market and all privately share their disgust toward the President/Owner. After my experience here I can handle the toughest personality imaginable and has made me stronger and wiser.

Cons

President/owner is a micro manager who is unprofessional, verbally abusive and a bully. Very high turn over at all levels. Employees are forced to believe they are incompetent and should be greatful toward the President that he still employs them.me

I have been working at Thomas C. Wilson full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is no pros in this company only thing is that is easy to get there

    Cons

The owner of the company is a crazy psychopath. He treat people like slave. He thinks because you work there you have to be grateful. Of course you are not grateful to work at a place where you dislike and you live with fear because you don't know when is your turn to get insulted. it is a shame how every quarter he wants to do this nonsense appreciation day. Talking lies knowing that no one wants to be there.

    Advice to Management

There is nothing you can say to him Just to get out of there as soon as you can. A person like that will never change.

I worked at Thomas C. Wilson full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice location and nice coworkers. I feel very bad for my former colleagues that still have to work there, especially for the older employees and workers in the shop. Some employees have been with the company for over 20 years because they started when the President's father who was a good President owned the company (so I was told).

    Cons

The President and owner of this company is a verbally abusive bully that mistreats all of his employees. He is definitely the most degrading and despicable human being I have ever met. He is constantly micromanaging and hovering over people creating anxiety and fear in all employees. This applies to all employees from clerks and shop workers all the way up to managers - he is terrorizing every single employee. He frequently flies off the handle and will yell at and insult his workers in the worst ways imaginable for no reason whatsoever, it does not require anyone to make a mistake. The President is a show-off, bragging about his private life, sailing, playing hockey, and eating at fancy restaurants. Instead of paying his employees properly, he spends a few hundred dollars every 3 months to have an employee appreciation day where he buys lunch for everyone. The employee appreciation day is sadistic because every employee hates being there and it's only happening so the President can feel good about himself. The President's behavior creates a horrible work environment with absolutely no motivation from any employee. No one will ever come up with any new ideas because everyone is afraid that they are giving the President another reason to yell at them. There is no traditional company structure or hierarchy, the President controls everything and micromanages every single employee. This also results in the President dismissing and overruling technical decisions made by Engineering. It even goes as far as the President interfering with input from Engineering regarding technical questions despite the fact that he has no Engineering or technical background. He also personally feels the need to approve every purchase made by the company, even if the value is under $50 which is completely absurd. Don't be fooled by the nice facade the President will put up when you meet him for the first time. He is a salesman and can act like he is a nice guy if he has to, but that mask will disappear completely after you work with him for more than 2 weeks.

    Advice to Management

As mentioned above, there is no true management. Advice to the President: see a therapist and work on your anger issues. Learn how to treat other people decently. Take some classes on how to be a Manager and understand why micromanaging and pretty much everything you do is bad for your own company.
