I have been working at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits (medical, vision, dental, FSA, 403b, pension, life insurance), plus 3 weeks vacation and 8 days sick pay to start. Thorough orientation. Most administrative issues are handled in a smooth and structured manner. A lot of folks here really look out for each other, and many employees are very friendly.

    Cons

New policy for non-union employees cut allowable absences and latenesses drastically, creating a lot of anxiety for those with chronic health conditions, children, relatives to caregive for, etc. Discipline structure allows for little wiggle room and makes it easier for employees to be terminated. Aside from this, some direct management members can be unapproachable.

    Advice to Management

Transition into new policies with more ease and cushion. Drastic changes lead to unhappy employees and lowered morale. Encourage more open communication between management and staff.
