I have been working at Thomas Publishing Company full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Work is easy though a bit mindless after a while
Nice people as coworkers, supervisors are touch and go

Plenty of screw around time once you learn the system
Plenty of training
Full benefits

Cons

Secretive environment (lots of whispering)
Little autonomy
Mandatory overtime (sometimes weekends)
Not a lot of up front information on why you do things
Company seems to be stagnating and lower level ideas are ignored
Behind technologically in our work and online pressence

Push harder for better programs
Micromanage less

I worked at Thomas Publishing Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Convenient location and some good people working there. Some other departments at Thomas seem to be more functional with more satisfied employees.

    Cons

    Below average pay
Overly hierarchical editorial department is a toxic environment with the lowest morale I have ever seen in any company.
The editorial team is micromanaged, and the senior leadership of the team has serious trust issues. Creativity or opinions have no place in the department.

    Advice to Management

Show more respect for your employees and have the mission of the department more transparent.
The editorial department should consider reorganizing the upper management structure, some positions are redundant.
