I worked at Thomasville Furniture full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-potential to earn decent money if you are willing to put in lots of overtime
    -beautiful showrooms

    Cons

    -very poor customer service
-quality of delivered goods not what it used to be
-manager rudely ignores customers with issues, never returns customers phone calls
-regional manager makes excuses and hides the managers insufficiencies so as not to look bad to upper management
-when issues arise you will be thrown under the bus, money will be taken from your commision
-staff has been cut so severely the designers are now doing too much of the paperwork and reports for management
-antiquated ordering system, customers get upset because everything is still handwritten and takes extremely long
-a lot of passing the buck, high employee turnover so most do not know what their responsibilities are

    Advice to Management

When a showroom has 7 out of 10 of their designers quit in a one year period, look at the manager. Listen to what these designers are telling you. They are all quitting for the same reason. No one is fixing the problem. The lack of an honest and accountable manager. The designers that left are very talented people that have all been top sellers for Thomasville and would have preferred to stay there. Now they are making money for your competitors!

    Pros

Good opportunity to make money if you are a bang up salesman. Opportunity to use creativity and design skills. Cool people.

    Cons

Sometimes quotas can be hard to meet and if they are not met you are out! Pressure from management for sales but not enough support.

    Advice to Management

Don't flood the sales floor with ten consultants when the store only needs 5-6.
