I worked at Thomson Reuters full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

- Upward mobility possible if you make your quotas and are a team player.
 - Great money back in the day (I left the company in 2008 before the market crash) before law firms started cutting costs and subscriptions.
 - Great products and services to sell.
 - Strong brand and very strong resources in Eagan for product information and sales support.

Cons

- Territories typically change every year (challenge to develop meaningful client relationships).
 - Highly unstable environment (products come in and out of your bag often) and high turnover
 - Experience can vary widely depending upon your sales manager
 - Highly complex compensation plans
 - Zero base salary (again, this was a while back - I believe field sales people are paid salaries now).

Advice to Management

Institute better vetting processes for hiring and promoting management; develop processes to ensure consistency of customer experience.

    Pros

Pretty generous with the work/life balance. A significant amount of content and products available to learn how various businesses utilize professional data services.

    Cons

Gotten too big, political and bureaucratic.

    Advice to Management

Cease the reorgs and hiring MD-level people who cannot fix anything with all their overvalued "vision" and get some real workers back on the case....
