I worked at Thomson Reuters as a contractor (Less than a year)

Pros

The company offered flex time, casual dress code, and friendly coworkers. I enjoyed my time there, even though it was short.

Cons

I worked on a contract basis. My pay was low, I had no benefits, and I wasn't hired at the end of my contract even though the division needed more workers.

"Typical large company - a lot of politics but some good opportunities if you're patient."

I have been working at Thomson Reuters full-time

    Pros

Decent work/life balance. Some interesting projects. You can get involved in fun projects if you take initiative. Offices worldwide offer some the chance to travel, or get assignments in other countries.

    Cons

Big company politics. More big company politics. Just OK benefits. Pay raises have been rare over the last few years.

    Advice to Management

You need good tech people. You won't attract and retain good tech people unless you both offer interesting projects, and match the current salary trends.

I worked at Thomson Reuters full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great company clubs and programs that help in the community. The campus is very beautiful and in the winter they run shuttles out to the lots so you don't have to walk in the cold to your car. There is a US Bank, Subway, Caribou Coffee along with 2 cafeterias on campus. You don't have to pay to park in a ramp downtown. There is a really nice walking trail to head out to on lunch breaks. There are a FEW really great people who work there.

    Cons

All benefits were cut for the new year. Poor management.

    Advice to Management

Go back to caring about employees - and work on retention, so many departments keep the slackers and lose the talented folks because they don't want to stick around and deal with the mess.
