    Pros

If you belong to the right team and ethnic group, career longevity is assured and/or the possibilities for promotion are sure to arrive.

    Cons

Management pigeonholes employees (many have been doing pretty much the same work for 10 or more years). This eventually leads to redundant workdays. Sick days in themselves do not exist; one must use vacation days (i.e. 10 PTO days in total per year) instead. One starts to accrue these only after six months of probation (nine in some departments). Very cliquish employees. It is no wonder that so many people want to leave.

    Advice to Management

Learn basic corporate organizational behavior. A positive workplace is one in which employees feel that they are appreciated and are part of a team. Begin by thanking those who have done good work. Start offering sick days. Even in the U.S., telling someone that a company does not offer separate sick days is cause for astonishment.

I worked at TigerDirect Canada full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The positions paid well, had good benefits, and offered lots of training.

    Cons

There is a lot of competition in the technology industry, there are new developments almost daily. It can be demanding at times to stay on top of all the information coming at you. There was also a lot of cross training of positions. A lot to learn. But me, I like learning.

    Advice to Management

    Management was top heavy.
