I worked at Time Warner Cable full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Division structure gave us flexibility and a great competitive advantage. Having leaders in the division was a strength. Coordination of operations and sales under a single, local leader provided great customer satisfaction and efficiency.

Cons

Inexplicable desire to centralize the business took away our advantages and destroyed morale. Remote teams are detached from one another - no teamwork and problem solving.

Advice to Management

Decentralize. You don't need to look like a telecom. The inability to synchronize operations, sales, and strategy is a function of your extreme centralization.

    Pros

    OK pay, great benefits, tools and work vehicle provided, able to take vehicle home, free/discounted cable services for employees

    Cons

    You're at the mercy of your routers/quota and your supervisors are powerless if they mess up your route/day. Restructuring of management areas have hindered field techs' ability to work in a timely manner. December holiday party eliminated. Forced to work various holidays (by corporate decision). Corporate trying to micromanage to one standard, instead of standard by area/clientel. One-hour arrival time frames are awful too.

    Advice to Management

    Put technicians back into smaller hub/areas and eliminate one-hour time frames. Give tech ops department more self-determination.
