I have been working at Tokyo Electron full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

TEL employees work hard - they are dedicated and have a spirit for customer service. The company is conservative which drives their stability. Employees tend to create strong working relationships with their co-workers. TEL senior management does care about the people who drive and support the TEL business partnerships...I see it everyday.

Cons

If one is a huge risk taker or not dedicated to their credibiltiy...they won't "fit" at TEL.

I worked at Tokyo Electron as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I worked on contract (Haken) at subsidiary of TEL, but i must say Best place to work for.

    1. No difference between contract (Haken) or permanent employees.
As we can easily hear stories of differences in behavior in other companies in Japan.

    2. Global Environment
    3. Good work ethics
    4. welcomes global persons
    5. Chance to work with latest technologies
    6. They support / helps you with your lower Japanese skills: Very kind
    7. Good perks & Club facilities

    8. Personally i like the systems/ environment you provided to you are best.
Latest Laptops/ desktops (server specs of Xeon category for development) :-)
    9. Sometimes you can feel glimpse of Bubble economy :p

    Cons

    1. Less Global People, mostly Japanese personal
    2. Japanese Language is primary mode of communication
    3. Some departments are really filled with typical Japanese personals,
so what ??? Hard to work for even Japanese guys so it can be really tough for a foreigner T-T

    4. Common problem in Japan (Vacations) and work load :-(

    Advice to Management

It will be better if people with lower profiles can input their voice/ vote for the future projects (Vision).
Overtime/ work load is really a lot there, it will be better if done something for Work life balance.
