Pros

Great leadership! Great mixture of people - positive growth and team work. Beautiful work environment - fresh flowers delivered weekly is always a plus. Easy commute from the great City Of San Francisco.

Cons

No real cons, but if you want to commute with public transportation it is a bit limited - special shuttle provided. driving from San Francisco is a breeze. The lunch selection outside the office is limited but Tosho offers a great lunch room.

Advice to Management

Keep up the the great work with your special human touch and connectivity. The moral boosting bonuses and company gatherings and Parties are an integral part to the team feeling.

    Pros

Low "ego quotient;" prima donnas generally not accepted. Easy to get along with most coworkers. Humor is encouraged to deal with stress of high tech field. Good profit sharing program; creates a sense that management is happy to share in the company's success. Job security is emphasized, layoffs are rare, firings only occur when there's a real reason.

    Cons

Definite lack of upward ladder. "Continuous improvement" is stressed but unless it's specifically related to your field not supported for personal growth reasons. Sick time counts as "unexcused" so people tend to come in when they are not feeling well and spread the germs around. The downside of the job security is that mediocre performance is often tolerated too long. Mentoring from senior levels is basically non-existent. No sense of bigger mission (example, service to the community) other than to make a profit.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to encourage more cross-departmental exposure and understanding between employees.

I have been working at Tosoh full-time

    Pros

Ability to learn and grow yourself, if you are self motived. Large international business exposure helps to grow your knowledge of different cultures and business practices.

    Cons

Direction is not always well given and the strategy is always changing. The work is very demanding and you should expect to be available to work at least ten hours per day.

    Advice to Management

Direction must be concise and the path forward should not be constantly changing. More emphasis on the importance of the staff needs to be provided.
