I have been working at Town Sports International Holdings full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Great Members, Opportunity to pretty much run your business and be creative
Good working environment and people around you
If you are lucky and hit quotas regularly, they leave you alone pretty much

Cons

Unrealistic quotas and games make it impossible to bonus
Everything comes down from management, feedback from members and employees is only welcome if it is what they want to hear
Nobody like their new so called personal training membership, but the really push it, even tho it is a pay cut for trainers
Any disagreement or questioning of company plans can result in disciplinary action

Advice to Management

Put your egos and tired old ideas aside, take time to relearn the business and listen to customer and employee feedback

I worked at Town Sports International Holdings full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get to meet great people from diverse walks in life; coworkers tend to be uplifting and nice individuals, managers tend to be nice individuals too. Great job if you are very outgoing. Also they sponsor our training as a Personal Trainer if you want, you can get a certification from NASM with a discount price (they take course's off from your paycheck). In fact that's why a lot of people choose to start their Personal Training careers at NYSC.

    Cons

The hours you have to spend doing non-client shifts around the floor as a trainer who's there to help tend to be boring and badly paid. Also if you get cold easily, don't go work at a gym because summertime you have to wear t-shirt to work and the it tends to be freezing inside the gym (super cold AC).

    Advice to Management

    No advice.
