I have been working at Toys "R" Us full-time (More than a year)

Pros

provides solid training and support on the ability to increase metric/sales and allows for creative merchandising in order to increase sales.

Cons

Overall, very poor and ineffectual training on a tacked together, very poor, operating system. Add to this a company which does not provide the payroll to tackle its growing multi-channel tasks. i.e. - a company with a lot of growing pains.

I worked at Toys "R" Us part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, will work with you if you have school or another job.
    Friendly co-workers and management.
    Fun environment.

    Cons

During seasonal hours can very and be few.
Little training - consisted of watching a 45 minute video and shadowing someone for about half an hour, then sent out on your own.

    Advice to Management

A little more training would be nice, I know that I was only seasonal, but that doesn't mean that I don't care about the job I'm doing and that I don't want to know what I'm really doing.

    I worked at Toys "R" Us full-time

    Pros

    - Getting to help families make a special purchase
    - Above average pay for external management hires.
    - Outside of holiday season, pretty easy gig as ASM.
    - Very easy business acumen, and financial goals to learn

    Cons

    - Constantly Cutting labor, to the point of damaging productivity, business and customer satisfaction.
    - Little or no communication between, corporate, regional and dist. leadership.
    - No real sales emphasis. Very much a "clerk" mentality.
    - At least in my experience management had a hard time holding associates accountable.
    - Poor SOP, go into 10 TRU/ BRU locations and get 10 experiences
    - Horrible training. Invest in your people
    - More Labor, especially for recovery and inventory replenishment. Stores look pretty bad

    Advice to Management

    - Invest in real, meaningful training for your employment
    - More incentives for line level associates. At least offer spiffs for esp's, credit, rewards etc. Base pay is pretty bad for line level team members.
