I have been working at Toys "R" Us full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Dedicated people, reasonable pay. Decent management schedule expectations outside of season. Great tools available on company intranet! Almost real time feedback for many key metrics. Focus on omni channel is outstanding.

Cons

Precarious ownership of company, lacks a clear vision. Under funded from capital sponsors so stores have orders refused for essential items like toilet paper. Concerns bout long term viability.

Advice to Management

Treat store managers like the multi million dollar business leaders that they are. Stop micro managing.

I have been working at Toys "R" Us part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I love my coworkers. You have to have a sense of humor and a childish side to be able to a) keep up with the merch and b) keep your head (and job) when customers are less than cordial; hours are also extremely adjustable. If you can't open or close on Saturday, you aren't immediately disqualified for the position or put on the coals. Would recommend as a supplement income, but it surprises me when people stay for more than a couple years.

    Cons

The systems are extremely out of date, we have no access to rewards information or credit cards, and the rather rigid sales structure makes for a lot of customer shouting matches.

    Advice to Management

Poor communication and organization between the managers leads to a lot of confusion on the floor. There needs to be more structure in how instructions are relayed and who's on what project--not just between managers, but between team members too, so that they understand where they need to be when.
