Disapproves of CEO

Pros

Lots of nice people working there, friendly environment, competitive pay (depends on the department), great benefits, interesting product to work on, potential to advance between and within certain departments.

Cons

Management is downright clueless and over confident based on prior successes. Politically structured with top management in place for up to 15-20 years, so there is a clear buddy system where rewards and promotions are concerned. Rewards based more on appealing to your supervisor's personal agenda than to the company's bottom line.

Advice to Management

Start your scrutiny from all the way at the top and work your way down instead of the other way around. Don't look for a methodology or a process to solve your development woes and take a good look at stale senior management.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Great engineering group although engineering management is attrocious. Product is really challenging and interesting to work on however underlying technology needs to be improved.

    Cons

Management is extremely unprepared to deal with long term vision. No real sense of direction is passed onto the staff, mostly because there is none.

    Advice to Management

Replace it. The existing engineering management is weak and offers zero leadership other that to say things need to be done. No tools are provided to allow goals to be met and no real decisions are ever made. It's a shame because at one point in the past this was a great company to work for. Amazing what a few individuals can accomplish when no real supervision occurs.

    Pros

Fast pased and interesting subject matter. Some good individuals to work with. Provides a good learning experience.

    Cons

Very unfocused strategic management practices. Managers flip flop between micro managing and being MIA. Benefits are low end and constantly being cheapened. Lip service for doing a good job but no real rewards when it comes to compensation adjustments or any kind of bonus for non executive employees.

    Advice to Management

Take a step back and decide what the goals are and create a plan to sucessfully get the team there and stick to it without changing the goals and the plan ad infinitum...
