I have been working at TransPerfect part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Some of the PMs are pleasant to work with, they offer a lot of work to translators. Their deadlines are sometimes flexible, and the material is on occasion interesting.

Cons

no concern about quality, but will fabricate excuses about quality to cut translator pay. Full time staff have very little knowledge about the translation business. Their reputation among translation professionals is very poor. I have seen them staff translation projects with people who were not native speakers of the target language and had a very limited understanding of the source language as well.

Advice to Management

Think about the long term - you have succeeded in trashing your company's reputation among employees past and present as well as in the industry in general.

    Pros

Dynamic environment; promotes from within; fun culture.

    Cons

Seems the growth has been too sudden so it is a bit disorganized in terms of training and expectations.

    Advice to Management

Identify trainers amid your senior managers or leaders -- or even more junior employees with previous experience or expertise in specific areas -- then have them conduct workshops and training for your new hires or older employees who want to advance professionally.

    Pros

Dedicated teams, coworkers hang out and go out together after work. Great experience for beginners in their careers.

    Cons

Nowhere near 9-5 work day. Long days, long hours. Typical NYC fast-paced environment and work culture.
