I worked at Travelers full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Good culture, good people, strong company.

Cons

Only a few bonuses given to small portion of consultants as opposed to each of the top performers receiving incremental amounts. Why the distrust with telecommuting? - just about every insurance company lets their consultants work from home.

Advice to Management

Don't furlough based strictly on seniority, some of the hardest workers and the young energetic ones.

I have been working at Travelers full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are good benefits including generous time off with pay, salary and incentive bonuses. Tuition reimbursement is also sometimes available depending on company discretion. The company has an excellent training facility and focuses efforts on training to produce quality results-driven employees.

    Cons

This large company is almost strictly numbers driven. You will be expected to achieve certain
(challenging) results. This company lacks consideration for individual "soft qualities" and at times can feel a bit cold and hostile, especially during economic hardship when cost savings become a priority. Management works behind closed doors and the workers are rarely included in any master plans. As a salaried employee you may find yourself working significantly longer than average hours in order to reach set goals.

    Advice to Management

    Communicate, communicate, communicate.

I have been working at Travelers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

very stable company that is well positioned in the industry

    Cons

under pay... make sure you are very happy with your comp before you get in because they typically pay on 90% to market

    Advice to Management

there is some dead weight in the organization and management doesn't have the backbone to address it. As well, there is so much red tape in the org, it's a wonder anything gets done at all... smaller companies can move so much faster and once they understand the business model, look out...
