I have been working at Travelers full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

It is a solid stable company that treats its employees adequately. They train their employees very well and invest a lot into your on-the-job education. There are upward mobiilty opportunities and it is an industry leader.

    Cons

Micromanagement can be an issue at times. The company thinks that it can't be touched by outside competition, creating a cocky environment. Downsizing of cubicles and office space is an issue

  2. "Stable company and environment"

I have been working at Travelers full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

good solid company with conservative approach to investments. This results in a slow and steady approach.

    Cons

Slow on the uptake of new ideas and opportunities, a little behind the time when it comes to appreciation for the latest technology, latest process controls, etc. Introduction of new ideas and concepts not entertained unless sponsored at a senior level. This is probably not uncommon for large companies, but certainly will not make this an environment able to compete for top talent willing to relocate to smaller companies looking for creative thinkers. This also results in a risk averse environment.

    Advice to Management

External hires into leadership positions as well as clear identification of a "select few" for the internal movement makes it difficult for others to understand their career opportunities.
