Pros

When the economy was good this was the best place. We had many people in the dept that worked there for over 30 years. They knew what they were doing and did it well.

Cons

When a manager gets all the finance dept let go and outsourced to Texas then you know they aren't reall caring about their long time employees. Once the Zell administration took over they gave us song and dance daily on how things would change and they sure did from bad to hell.

Advice to Management

Respect the people that worked for your very hard. It is something they never really did well.

    Pros

    It's a Historical Company
    It's Chicago based
The Tower itself is an amazing piece of architecture
In general it's a pleasant place to work

    Cons

Management turnover in the past few years has lead to what feels like territories, meaning new vs old management fighting for turf. Hopefully all can be pulled back together and continue to move forward as one company. Here's to hoping Trib will be around for my children.

    Advice to Management

There is a perception that it is "us vs them" in multiple areas. One example would be the business vs technology. Also, in Technology, Chicago vs San Antonio vs LA. Can we stop this and just be one team at one company planning for an amazing future.

    Pros

Quality work with high local profile.
    Good company name recognition.
Creative yet business environment with many talented professionals.
Diverse work and projects keep things fresh.

    Cons

Poor pay and little room for negotiation.
They underestimate the amount of work it takes to complete projects which results in many over worked and over stressed employees.
Too much time spent on CYA work makes doing the actual job difficult.

    Advice to Management

Needs a middle-senior management overhaul to fix the environment. Too many people are scared to lose their jobs and looking over their shoulder, rather than focus on doing a quality job.
