    I worked at Tripp Lite

    Pros

Benefits offered: Year end profit sharing, company pic-nic and Christmas party , beer Friday every other Friday, free shuttle from Metra stations , and Fooda (not subsidized), FSA, decent health benefits, 401K, and department outings (once yearly. *These are standard perks offered at most companies in Chicago so they are not unique.

    Cons

Management: Nepotism exists among management and it's a problem. Outdated management style that heavily relies on McGregor’s Theory “X” style of management - in other words, they're a carrot and stick company. An over-abundance of VPs and Directors has harboured a culture of ego. Bullying and harassment is a norm. Senior management has been known to yell and swear at employees, for example. So loud that it can...

    Advice to Management

Reflect and address sensitive subjects like: 1. How do you begin to address the regular abuse of power as a result of nepotism? it is extremely difficult and awkward to file complaints knowing the many familial connections between management and HR. 2. How will you deal with the harassment and bullying issues? Making a sales margin does not justify harassment and or bullying.

I have been working at Tripp Lite full-time for more than 6 years

      Pros

Over the years that I have worked for Tripp Lite I have been provided numerous opportunities and recognized for my hard work. The company has a tried-and-true product line and a good reputation with customers and partners. It rewards employees with bonuses (annually and for record months) as well as holiday and summer company parties. The people I work with are great and I can sincerely say I enjoy coming to work every...

      Cons

401k match should be improved, and there are a lot of processes that are paper-based that should be converted to be done electronically (although this is happening slowly). Remote employees can sometimes feel they are on an island.

      Advice to Management

The company is full of good people. Continue to encourage their professional growth and it will keep morale high.

I worked at Tripp Lite full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

Great product set to sell, excellent presales support.

      Cons

Management can be difficult to deal with when your presenting outside-the-box thinking. Pay is below average for the numbers/effort that has to be put in to obtain them.
