Pros

It is fun. Managers try to consider what hours employees can work and when they need off for occasions. The hours are good. The merchandise is quality. The customers value our merchandise.

Cons

Managers are hiring several unqualified employees to each work 4-10 hours instead of hiring 1-3 quality associates to receive enough hours to want to continue working at Tuesday Morning.

Advice to Management

If employees talk to you about issues of how they are being mistreated by other employees. Please keep names anonymous or the employee- that shared the mistreatment -is labeled a snitch or becomes even more mistreated.

    Pros

The hours are more convenient than that of other retail stores.

    Cons

Too many to list, incompetent middle management. Overworked and underpaid employees. Ridiculous amounts of merchandise that does not sell, not enough product that does. Erratic delivery of trucks that employees unload themselves. Job entails everything from customer service to waxing the floors. Be prepared to work HARD.

    Advice to Management

Do the best you can with what you have, do not expect anyone to hear your complaints and fix the problem. Use this job as another refrence on your resume.

    Pros

The store closes at seven, which is earlier than most retai stores. There's a discount. That's about it. It's a resume builder, not a career.

    Cons

Complete lack of training. As a new store manager, you are given no direction, no proper training - merely expected to wing it and figure things out on your own. Sure, they fly you to Dallas after you've been there a month or two, but corporate "training" is a joke. No one in upper management seems to have any idea what they're doing. There is virtually no communication between corporate and the store level. As a store manager, you're expected to do everything from unload trucks, run registers, stock shelves, clean bathrooms, run a floor cleaner, do your own inventory (and observe other stores do theirs), all with only one other employee in the store at any given time. Regionals are impossible to get a hold of, and the expectations are ridiculous. Tuesday Mornings are notorious for looking like a tornado has ripped through them, and now I understand why - it's impossible to maintain a clean, shoppable store with the payroll hours allotted and the sheer amount of merchandise received. Oh, and they're frequently bad about paying you on time. Corporate is cheap - employees often spent their own money for office and cleaning supplies.

    Advice to Management

Train your employees! Send truck shipments on a regular schedule, not just whenever you happen to feel like it. Take a look at what you're actually sending to your stores, instead of just endlessly dumping product that doesn't sell. Pay your people what they're worth, and maybe your turnover won't be so ridiculous. Staff your stores properly, and stop using salaried managers as workhorses.
