I worked at Tufts Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked as a Executive Assistant and I met really nice co-workers while I was there, patient care is wonderful at Tufts, emphasis on respect is a big deal. I really did not have a good experience with trying to move or transfer within the company which I think was really disappointing. There was not much help in that regard which is very sad. For the most part the experience for me was okay.

    Cons

Not enough areas to move or grow. Salary not comparable to pay grade, no reviews during my time there, when I spoke to others before me, I was told that they hadn't gotten reviews for years.

    Advice to Management

Be attentive to all their employee's needs not just certain employees.

    Pros

The pay is good. Not the higest paying hospital in the city but it's good.

    Cons

There has been the introduction of the "flex" nurse position. It allows the hospital to hire a nurse into a full time position but 2 hous before you shift is due to start you can be called and cancelled for the shift. Not paid. The amount of time you can be "flex'd down" is based on the numbers of week you have been hired for, it's significant! The floor educator positions have been eliminatated leaving a gaping hole when iit comes to resources. New feeding pumps have been brought in, was told to watch a 20 minute video to understand setting it up.. it's a crazy busy pace. The highest nurse to patient ratio in that area of Boston.

    Advice to Management

There seems to be a large disconnect between the bedside and management. I have no idea how to bridge this but it is a 24 hour institution but by evening the lack of oversight it obvious.
