I have been working at Tulane University full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

New Orleans is a fun city to be in There is a lot of medical research with access to the TU Medical Hospital, and the National Primate Research Center There is a decent work/life balance depending on the lab you choose

    Cons

New Orleans has a high crime rate so one should be cautious walking alone at night Graduate work isn't for everyone, really make sure you want to do the research you're signing up for It can be hard to find a social group if you do not have avenues in which to meet people. You have to be proactive to find friends.
