I have been working at Turner Broadcasting full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Lots of opportunities to add a great name to your resume

Cons

The managers are idiots. Cronyism is rampant. After elections it's a sinking ship. Lots of layoffs this year.

Advice to Management

Be better at career pathing your employees. Stop promoting problems into management positions (those that can't do manage). Respect people for their work.

I worked at Turner Broadcasting as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

you can branch out and learn from different people but you have to be proactive about it. The facilites are very nice at techwood and the dress is casual.

    Cons

not many opportunities to contribute as an intern. In my experience the people weren't very friendly or express much interest in getting to know the interns.

"Lack of support as an employee and lack of room to grow (unless you're Brazilian or Argentinian)"

I have been working at Turner Broadcasting full-time

    Pros

The campus' benefits. It has a gym, dry cleaners and a bank. Also, a way to succeed is to be Argentinian or Brazilian, otherwise chances are very slim.

    Cons

The culture is very demoralizing because there is no room to grow or support from your direct or indirect managers to do so. Especially if you are not Brazilian or Argentinian, therefore part of "the click." Only the ones on top grow. Most employees have been in the Latin America division for over ten years doing exactly what they started doing when they joined the company. And most are very demoralized but realize things won't change unless they leave. They stay because they feel it's difficult to find something after this long and feel conscious about their vocal accents. HR doesn't help either. There are many in that division that have a very thick file of complaints and nothing is done about it. HERE EVERYTHING IS ABOUT "WHO YOU KNOW." Not actual talent. Sad.

    Advice to Management

Offer communication, support, guidance to grow within the company, even if the employee is not Brazilian or Argentinian. Recognition. Acknowledgment. It would be nice too if the ones with Manager and Director titles had actually had direct reports prior and had the ability to manage. But most "managers" lack people skills making it very difficult to interact, therefore manage a team of people. E
