I have been working at U-Haul full-time (More than a year)

Pros

#1 Benefits are excellent
#2 Immediate management is super
#3 Recognition for accomplishments and support for advancement

Cons

Scheduled nights, weekends, holidays
#1 Job description highly inaccurate
#2 We deal with a very difficult customer base, as they are almost always in a "stressed-out, ready to explode" mood b/c they just had a horrendous move they completed (one of the major life stressors). Customer Service is extremely difficult.
#3 No training and most employees are Part Time (as required by U-haul) so there is large turn-over and no real loyalty to the company.

Advice to Management

Training, training, training...in a uniformed, organized method (possibly should have a position that goes to several locations and focuses only on training).

    I worked at U-Haul part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work from Home, decent income during the busy times.

    Cons

Customers are very unhappy and stressed because they are moving. If they were explained things more they wouldn't be. Most of the consultants will hang up if they can't answer a caller questions because they want to get their commission. Lot's of technical problems with the computers at corporate that are outside of your control and then you loose commissions as a result. They don't give you the hours you request, and I was pretty open. All I wanted was to have two days off a week together for at least half the month. They didn't need to be weekends.

    Advice to Management

Keep the good employee's who care about the customers even if they have technical challenges outside of their control due to the purchase of a new home.

    I worked at U-Haul part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Job consistency
    Keeps you busy
    Easy Job
    Work from home option
    Excellent training

    Cons

Training varies on the person in charge, some people are more prepared than others
Not many choices on when to take training, either VERY early in the morning or VERY late at night
It's a sales position, so you will get the expected in this position

    Advice to Management

    Keep training specific
Work on the system crashing because of too many callers
