    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at U.S. Cellular full-time

    Pros

it is a job and benefits are good

    Cons

terrible work environment, look for reasons to fire people-even with terrible staffing situations which causes employees to suffer, not the managers. Very high turnover!, Sr. Leaders keep dumping more stuff on associates- company will not last like it is going- even CEO just quit

    Advice to Management

think of your employees- they are the ones talking to customers.

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at U.S. Cellular full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    1. A family owned company (TDS is owned by the Carlsons) that is trying desperately to avoid layoffs and any negative impact on Associates. 2. The company is very honest in attempting to give the customer the best experience possible. 3. There is an emphasis on excellence.

    Cons

    1. A recent layoff in Engineering and Operations has created a sour atmosphere for those who remain. 2. Senior Directors have been promoted to Vice Presidents, while remaining workers have been saddled with more work. 3. Directors, and especially Managers, are always vulnerable to the whims of employee surveys (360 degree appraisals) and middle management.

    Advice to Management

Either get into the wireless business like a real competitor with true, nationwide service or sell out. A half hearted investment in new technology isn't going to cut it. You need to borrow, at low interest rates and earn on new investment, just like your competitors are.
