I worked at U.S. Government Accountability Office full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Great culture, wonderful work-life balance, they really care about their employees. You also get to know projects in-depth, and get wonderful visibility with upper management. They care about career progression and provide helpful feedback for employees.

Cons

You work on one project continuously, so if you like lots of different tasks it may be boring.

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at U.S. Government Accountability Office full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

GAO has a great training program and offers a very supportive environment for new hires. It's a great opportunity to work as a researcher. You get to analyze data and interview senior agency officials in way that wouldn't be possible anywhere else. GAO is also increasing its telework opportunities.

    Cons

Extremely limited mobility within the agency - both to other policy teams and for promotions. The agency only does one thing: audit other agencies. There are virtually no opportunities to do something other than research.
