Pros

A good place to learn the business of financial services, particularly from an operational standpoint. Lots of different areas of opportunities due to the size of the bank.

Cons

The pay is sub-par. Career advancement can be difficult in some areas. To advance in your career you have to be very selective in which part of the firm you work and willing to change locations.

Advice to Management

Continue to focus on making changes that will improve the level of confidence in our clients and employees. The steps made within recent months to regain the trust of the public need to be continued.

    Pros

The people (fellow employees) - Everyone learns from each other and there is an ability to form friendships that reach outside of work hours. Good benefits (401k matching - automatic 4% regardless of whether you make a contribution, plus 75% of your contribution up to 4% of compensation, health, dental, vision)

    Cons

Senior management incompetence - There are too many horror stories to list, from management not giving employees any bonus so they'll leave instead of management just laying them off, to laying people off on a Monday morning after they spent the entire weekend in the office to finish a project, to unfairly discipling people, so UBS can show statistics of how they handle situations.
Lower compensation relative to peers - $5-10k less for each employee here and there means senior mangement can pad their own pockets.

    Advice to Management

Be much better (risk management, treatment and respect for employees).

    Pros

Compensation and Benefits , Great Collagues , ( Good Perks ) Discounted Parking . Verizons great Discounts pkgs sav 19% . I miss alot of that.

    Cons

Career Opportunities were never really as good as they make it out to be. They offered classes , that was great . However it was so busy with my 50 hours plus. Time was very difficult to make for these classes. It also required traveling that added to more time. Hard to balance with your personal life.

    Advice to Management

You have good people there. Give them a pat on the shoulder once in a while, let them know they are doing a great job.
( Not that its their job) Takes away the motorivation. I was very motorivated when I started there but that talking of outsourcing was such a turnoff it took away that motorivation. Eventually guess what ? Im out of work : ( sad....
