I have been working at UBS as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked with people who seemed to me to be honest. Middle management at the ED level was extremely talented, friendly and capable.

    Cons

The firm appeared to be at the top by people who were not capable with unequal advantages for Swiss nationals. Many people were fired while I was there, and the trading floor looked a bit like a grave yard - empty and quiet.

Lack of cooperation across different parts of the organization.

    Advice to Management

Try not to lose 2.3 billion USD because of lousy risk management. Hire some talented people at the top. Try diversifying at the top, also. Further recognize and reward some exceptional people in middle management. They are probably smarter than you (top management) are.
