I have been working at UBS full-time (More than a year)

Pros

- The firm is clearly taking the right steps to reposition itself as a premier global wealth/asset manager
- Unwinding capital intensive positions in the Investment Bank is of utmost importance
- Streamlining of middle and back office support is key to lower expenses
- Good people, although the firm should take advantage of the buyers market in terms of talent and acquire leading people via competitive compensation.

Cons

- Huge, bureaucratic institution
- Everything passes through Switzerland
- Slow moving, reactionary

Advice to Management

Compensation matters very much. You will not move on and repair the firm if you have high turnover as a result of uncompetitive compensation packages.

I worked at UBS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Cafeteria has decent food and the office at 299 Park, NY is close to the 6-train stop.

    Cons

Classifying this bank as a "revolving door" is generous and inaccurate. The IB is in a unidirectional decline. Deal teams are bottom feeders with very few lead left deals. Bonuses are nonexistent. Everyone is actively looking for opps outside of the bank, including the MDs.

    Advice to Management

    Retire

I have been working at UBS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people, very international work environment. Very good graduate trainee program that gives you great exposure. Chances available to work abroad,
Better benefits (401k matches and vacation days) than most other companies.

    Cons

Being loyal to the company doesn't pay off anymore. Horrible internal politics. Very difficult to move to other desks internally.
Compensation has been on the decline for years and has been very heavily impacted by trading losses and fines,

    Advice to Management

Promote more from within instead of hiring expensive external people who only stick around for their guaranteed bonus.
