I worked at UBS as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

Worked in the trading group and learned ample amounts regarding the market.
The workers there really know their business and that is a good place to learn.

Cons

Work for intern was often not the most exciting. The work was also extremely busy work oriented, and offered very few opportunities to move up.

Advice to Management

Make internship program more structured. Have an assigned mentor throughout the process.

I have been working at UBS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

UBS had lots of talented and intelligent people.
Good work/life balance depending on your department or manager

    Cons

Most of the "talented and intelligent" folks have now departed the firm either through lay-offs or voluntarily. There are still few, but not enough to make your work fulfilling. This has made the culture less motivating and it seems to be getting worse.

    Advice to Management

Value all your employees. Avoid preferential treatment to the "money-makers" forgetting that the support teams were part of their success. Reward employees with small tokens or vacation days anytime they go above and beyond, not just at the end of the year during performance review.

I worked at UBS as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Exposure to what companies are doing with their cash reserves. Also good on resume for future employment opportunities.

    Cons

It was a pretty standard wealth management internship. A lot of prospecting and busy work. Had to get food and coffee a lot. Spent most of the time on Linkedin.

    Advice to Management

Treat interns with respect, at least take the time to get to know them. At the very least know their name.
